There are over two lakh Ph.D. enrolments in India, according to AISHE 2019-20 data. Of these over 91,000 scholars are females. Tamil Nadu has the highest number of Ph.D. enrolments, a little over 30, 000. Over 43 lakh students have enrolled for the post-graduate courses across the country.
