Women in Media

Women are less likely to be quoted as experts or commentators. News websites (23%) and newspapers (24%) had the lowest percentage of experts in the news who are women. Climate Change Performance

India maintains its strong performance in the Climate Change Performance Index, retaining its 10th place.
India’s performance was rated high in the GHG Emissions, Energy Use, and Climate Policy categories, and medium in Renewable Energy. India is already on track to meet its 2030 emissions target (which is compatible with a well-below-2°C scenario), close to achieving its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) target of a 40% share for non-fossil fuel installed power capacity by 2030, and on course for a targeted 33–35% reduction in energy intensity by the same year.

Journalist attacks

There were 674 instances of attacks on journalists in India from January 2016 to July 2021 according to the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED).
These attacks were spread across 273 districts in the country. The attacked journalists belonged to 117 different organizations.

District-wise universities

Among the 742 districts in India, 332 districts have at least one university. Jaipur, with 34 universities is the district with the highest number of universities in the country. This is followed by Bengaluru with 22 universities and Ahmedabad with 21 universities. 146 districts in the country have only one university, according to the AISHE 2019-20 data.
